Thyrza

Thyrza

Thyrza is an artist who seems to make a lot of monsters. She had a career in film/TV and theatre costume design and building, but left it eleven years ago to concentrate on her own art. Since then she has been designing and making lamps, creating pop art terrariums using her miniature figurines, vandalizing thrift store prints with various aliens, sculpting art dolls and assembing Mojave Monsters, making lenticular collages and learning a lot about Photoshop and photography.

Thyrza sculpts miniature figurines, photograph them and use them in digital collages. Then she interlaces the images, print them and apply a lenticular lens to the surface of the print to give it a false sense of depth. At Maker Faire, she will share the methods behind her prints (which are straight from an old Russell Brown tutorial that is now behind a paywall), and you will be able to purchase art cards, prints and lenticular collages. She will also have a hands-on portion of her booth where you can make your own miniature monsters from polymer clay.
