UME Academy

Design, create, iterate; UME Academy teaches elementary school students how to think, design, create, and problem solve using technology. They focus on design and computational thinking, teaching a process for breaking down a big idea into a series of components; their approach is not only a precursor to programming (for those interesting in that path), it is a mindset and methodology to using technology in life to solve problems. They use video games as the context because kids are passionate about them, and are excited, motivated, and engaged in the process of learning. Stop by the UME booth and create your own video game! Guided by film and game industry veterans, students will learn creative problem solving through the game design process while employing the tools and technology that power today’s top games.
