Makerwiz: 3D Printing for Science Education

Makerwiz is a creative enterprise dedicated to promoting the Maker Movement by fostering the knowledge and application of emerging creative technologies such as 3D printing, digital fabrication, drone robotics, and wearable electronics. Their motto is “Inspiring Boundless Creativity”.

Makerwiz is an active member of the 3D Hubs community in Toronto, and is heavily involved in the creation of new makerspaces in the Greater Toronto Area. They are an authorized dealer of quality products from several major players in the digital fabrication industry, including MakerBot, LulzBot, BEEVERYCREATIVE, CraftBot, ZMorph, Filabot, Proto-Pasta, 3Doodler, and others. They are approved vendor for several school boards across Canada, from sea to sea.

Their “3D Printing for Science Education” exhibit will demonstrate the use of 3D printing in science education, from the molecular and cellular all the way to the interstellar. Sample projects (designed by teachers, for teachers) will illustrate the power of 3D printing in engaging active learning by students. Resources from important organizations such as the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be explored. Science educators will learn how to make the best use of 3D printing in their curriculum to bring modern K-12 STEM education to the next level.
